Apple released their latest pair of earbuds under the name of PowerBeats Ambush a couple of months ago. You may have used the PowerBeats Pro before, but if you are considering about buying a PowerBeats Ambush version you should go through this article to get a much clear idea about the product.

What is the difference?

I’d say that there are three major differences among these two earphone versions, PowerBeats Ambush and PowerBeats Pro. The first one is PowerBeats Ambush is remarkably cheaper than the Pro version (when considering about the original prices). The second is PowerBeats Pro is a truly wireless set of earphones, the earbuds aren’t connected with a wire but in the Ambush version, the two earbuds are connected. The final and the third major difference is quite fascinating, PowerBeats Ambush literally “GLOWS IN THE DARK” unlike the Pro version. In addition to those there are some little differences between those two products and you’ll know each and every one of them once you finish reading this.

What is in the (Ambush version) box?

What is in the box? [in Brad Pitt’s voice]. Other than the main product (the earphones) this package includes a nice and small carrying case so you can carry your earbuds with protection anywhere you go. Apple sends their small USB to Lightning cable with this but forgets to put a charging adapter in the box (just kidding it is their ‘policy’). As usual there are four more pairs of ear tips included in the package and you can choose what fits perfect for you. And finally, besides the user guide and the warranty card you will receive a sticker with the Beats logo that glows in the dark, what to do with that is completely up for you to decide.

PowerBeats Ambush Features

This PowerBeats Ambush is a very high quality device. The build quality and material is great too. What you mainly expect from any kind of earbud is great sound quality. The PowerBeats Ambush provides incredible level of bass and crisp clear, powerful sounds with a quite good noise cancellation.

A single full charge can power these earbuds to continuously play about 15hrs of music. A quick charging mode called fast fuel allows you to listen to music for about 1hr after a 5min charge and that is a really good advantage in many situations.

In the right earbud there is a button to play, pause, reverse, skip music and to turn on Siri and another button to control the volume. If you don’t have an Apple smartphone to connect with this you don’t have to worry, you just have to download the Beats App to your android phone and you are all set to use these earbuds without any interference.

One best thing about these wired earbuds is you can let them hang around your neck when you are not using them. So you don’t have to worry about losing those. Glowing in the dark feature doubles that, you can even notice this in a pitch black situation. These really glows strongly. Fortunately, these earbuds resists sweat and water. I can recommend this without a hesitation to those who visit gym or those who do their workout routine in outdoor.

You can share audio wirelessly to another pair of Beats Bluetooth earphone or Apple AirPod using Audio Sharing technology.

Ambush or Pro?

The Pro version of this PowerBeats earbuds are bit different from the Ambush version. I mentioned three differences above and I’m not going to talk about them again. Let’s go beyond those reasons and see what’s actually different and similar.

Check the price

Similarities

Both earbud design is pretty much the same. Despite Pro being a truly wireless pair of earbuds both Pro and Ambush have the same ear hook design. It won’t easily fall off until you remove them and it stays and fits perfectly (maybe better than AirPods).

Even though the PowerBeats Pro is little bit old, it is sweat and water resistant just like the Ambush model. The control buttons are on the exact same spot on both devices and they work the same way. When talking about the sound quality there is no difference at all among the two models, both provide great amount of bass and clear sounds. Bluetooth Class 1 is used in these two devices to provide an uninterrupted, strong connectivity.

Differences

The Pro version comes with a charging case and it can be used to charge the earbuds about 2 or 3 times. When talking a bit more about the Pro version’s case, it is actually really big when comparing to the Apple AirPod case so carrying it on your pocket is a little bit hard.

A single full charge will power the earbuds for 9hrs (in Ambush it is 15hrs). The Fast Fuel charge for 5min will give enough battery power to play music for about 1.5hrs (in Ambush 1hr). When you are not using the earbuds but it is connected to the phone they will automatically go to the standby mode.

PowerBeats Pro comes in seven (7) different colours but the Ambush comes only in light green because it glows in the dark. Also the earbuds in Pro version can be used individually. Which means you can take only one earbud out of the case and connect it to your phone without connecting the other one but in the Ambush model you can’t connect earbuds individually.

The verdict: What is actually good?

I think you know what I’m going to say. The best earbud between these two actually depends on your personal preference. The PowerBeats Pro is undoubtedly one of the best truly wireless earbuds in the market but it is little bit overpriced and it has its cons. The PowerBeats Ambush is pretty much the same like the Pro but with some features added and some features gone. So, again it is completely up for you to decide. These both earbuds are really great when comparing to the others in the market. I think this article is helpful for you to get a clear idea about what suits you better.
