Apple Silicon’s Crown is FINALLY Being Challenged in a Big Way

The competition is catching up. Will Apple stay on top?

I love my Apple silicon Mac for a long list of reasons. It’s fast. It’s quiet. And it doesn’t produce a ton of heat in day to day tasks.

My Intel-powered Dell laptop, on the other hand, can cook an egg just opening Microsoft Excel.

Against the backdrop of the current Windows laptop landscape, Apple silicon stands out as the uncontested king. It’s power efficient, relatively quiet, and very powerful.

But that distinction, which for the past several years has given Apple a significant advantage, may soon become somewhat irrelevant if Apple can’t keep pace.

Then and now

In 2020, Apple silicon was the obvious choice for someone who wanted a system that was fast, reasonably powerful and could last for more than 3 hours on a charge.

Even those who aren’t generally fans of macOS were tempted to ditch their beloved Windows systems in favor of the competition in hopes of enjoying the speed and efficiency of Cupertino’s hardware.
