Apple will roll out a new line-up of iMac in the first half of next year with the Pro moniker as per the details shared by Dylan(@dylandkt) on Twitter.

This tech tipster has leaked details about Apple hardware in the past and has often been close to the mark with many of his posts on his Twitter handle.

This time around, the next iMac Pro is under the spotlight, and unsurprisingly it will be powered by either the M1 Pro or M1 Max SoCs — the two new chips Apple released earlier this year.

So, it’s highly likely that the new iMac Pro’s would sport them. But is that where the buck stops or do we get to see something more in the upcoming iMac Pro?

Let's find out. These are purely based on the leaks and rumors that are doing the rounds currently.

Design

The overall look of the M1 Pro or M1 Max iMac Pro will allegedly resemble the 24-inch iMac. So, do expect a boxier design like the one we saw recently.

Like this. Take a good look.

Display

As per Dylan, the iMac Pro will feature a 27-inch mini-LED display, also known as the Apple Pro XDR display.

Over a billion colors presented with exceptional accuracy. Believing is seeing.

With breakthrough backlighting technology, Pro Display XDR takes brightness, contrast, and color to a whole new level.

Memory and Storage

As per the tweet, the base model of iMac will come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There will be other configurations as well.

Ports

All the models will be equipped with an HDMI port, SD card slot, USB-C ports, and an Ethernet port, the way we saw in the recently launched Macbook Pro.

ProMotion

ProMotion technology will be available to deliver variable refresh rates to the Mini-LED screen, which will be surrounded by dark bezels.

Authentication

It is said that Apple has tested Face ID already for the iMac Pro but it is still not a confirmed feature as of now. Given the worldwide chip shortage and supply chain issues, we need to wait and watch if Apple would be able to still manage to incorporate this feature.

The fallback option is the touch ID that would be incorporated into the iMac.

Price

Having a go at its possible price, the tipster predicts that the iMac Pro will start retailing at or over $2,000. This would mean a price tag of close to Rs 1.5 lakh, if or when the machine reaches the Indian shores.

Final Thoughts

These are some of the features we expect to see in the upcoming iMac Pro.

So when is the probable launch date?

The launch has been predicted to be within the first half of the next year.

Not much information around it has been shared before this tweet but a look at the specifications suggests that the features are very well in line for such a product to take shape.

So before I wrap up, here is the question :

Given the above specifications, would you consider purchasing the iMac Pro?
