Introduction

This year, with the iPhone 15 coming out in a few months, Apple is charting a new course in the realm of smartphone photography with the introduction of the periscope camera in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This innovative technology promises to redefine the standards of smartphone photography, offering users unprecedented capabilities in capturing moments with precision and depth.

Traditional smartphone cameras face a significant limitation — the need for a long distance between the lens and the sensor to achieve a powerful zoom, which would require a thicker phone.

It employs a prism within the smartphone’s chassis to extend the distance between the lens and the camera sensor, bouncing light and creating a magnification up to five times that of the main camera. This technology enables smartphones to retain their sleek design while delivering powerful zoom capabilities.
