Everything We Know About the Upcoming M4 iMac
New features are expected to deliver a major step up
As we head into the ladder half of 2024, Apple is gearing up for a shift by integrating Apple Intelligence across the lineup kicking it off with the upcoming M4 chip. The forthcoming iMac M4 is the latest rumoured device expected to implement the chip and integrate the all new capabilities.
The Powerhouse M4 Chip
Apple has already shown the capabilities of the new M4 chip on iPad Pro. Built on the same 3-nanometer technology as M3, the latest processor delivers speed and efficiency improvements thanks to its 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU offering 6 efficiency and 4 performance cores each with tests showing 25% improvement from the previous generation.
Areas such as graphics processing and machine learning can take advantage of these improvements, and with AI at the forefront, it’s no surprise Apple will make the updated chip a centerpiece of the device. While the iMac is expected to be one of the first devices to integrate the chip, it’s likely we only see the baseline M4 included as opposed to the MacBook lineup receiving the M4 Pro and Max chips.
