After Apple TV+ won an intense auction for a new sci-film which stars Tom Hanks, “Finch” became the latest Apple Original FIlm to premiere on the service. Deadline also reported earlier this year that the film is likely to be a contender for awards season.

Last year, Apple acquired Greyhound and saw viewership and subscriber numbers rapidly increase leading them to change strategy and offer significantly more feature length films than originally anticipated when the service launched. This also marks the third partnership of Apple and Tom Hanks if you count his upcoming war series, produced by Apple Studios, “Masters of the Air”.

The film is set to explore the story of a man, a robot and a dog who form a family. Hanks stars in the movie playing the title character Finch who is a robotics engineer who has lived in a bunker for a decade and is one of a few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event. The trio embark on a journey into the American West as Finch discovers the joy of being alive.

Miguel Sapochnik, credited for directing some of the most ambitious episodes of the acclaimed series “Game of Thrones” directs the film. All you need to watch the film from today is an active subscription to Apple TV+ which can be accessed through the Apple TV app or at tv.apple.com. Also coming soon to the lineup of originals includes the third and final season of “Dickinson” and “Hello Jack, The Kindness Show”.
