Last July I was paying $2.99 for iCloud+ 200GB storage, $6.99 for Apple TV+, and $109 for the Apple Music annual plan for individuals. I would have kept those subscriptions except that, as a family, we had outgrown our 200GB of iCloud storage. The 2TB storage tier would add seven dollars to our monthly Apple subscription bill, bringing the total to $26. That felt a little pricey for the value we were getting from the subscriptions.

At the time Apple One Premier was $32.95, meaning that for an additional seven dollars monthly we could add Apple Music for my wife and three children, and News+, Fitness+, and Arcade+ for the whole family. While I didn’t want to spend even more on subscriptions, it felt like it would be a much better deal. I was confident we would derive enough value from the additional features to sign up for the free trial on July 7th with an automatic renewal the following month.

We immediately blew past the 200GB iCloud storage limit, validating half of the price increase. When my wife started listening to Apple Music via CarPlay, it exceeded the remaining Apple One Premier subscription expense. Add to that our daily use of News+ and we were easily getting more value from Apple One Premier than from the subscriptions…
