Greyhound, New Tom Hanks Movie Now Streaming On Apple TV+

Apple has premiered a new movie that joins the growing list of Apple originals, Greyhound. It is a World War II drama, which will star Tom Hanks. Viewers in over 100 countries will be able to watch the movie from July 10.

Tom Hanks will play a longtime Navy veteran and first-time captain who has to protect a convoy of ships with soldiers and supplies during the Second World War. Greyhound is inspired by true events which took place during the Battle of the Atlantic. The movie will be directed by Aaron Schneider and produced by Gary Goetzman. The cast also features Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan and Elisabeth Shue.

Greyhound was originally set for a theatrical release by Sony Pictures although due to the current pandemic, Apple won a rights deal. They had pushed back the release multiple times but eventually, Apple won a rights deal. The rights deal is expected to be worth around $70,000,000.

To watch the movie you need to have a subscription to Apple TV+ which can be accessed on the Apple TV app or through the web player at tv.apple.com. On the same day Apple also premiered their highly anticipated romantic comedy “Little Voice” and short unscripted series “Greatness Code”. Coming soon to the lineup of originals is “Ted Lasso” a comedy and a documentary titled “Boys State”, both premiering on the streaming service August, 14.
