With iOS 15, the iPhone 6s became the smartphone with the longest software support

No one thought that this would happen. But Apple surprised everyone by announcing that all iOS 14 and iPad OS 14 supported devices will receive iOS 15 and iPad OS 15. Yes! iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2 which were released around six years ago will receive the latest update. This is amazing right.

So, How exactly did Apple do this?

Originally iPhone 6 was the biggest launch for Apple with a brand new design. The 6s didn’t have any radical design change. But what it lacked in design, the iPhone 6s gained in its internal.

The 6s had a whopping 90% higher performing chip than the previous model.

RAM

iPhone 6s doubled its RAM capacity from the previous model to 2GB. This was a big move at that time for Apple. Apple doesn’t include much RAM in its smartphone as they work towards improving efficiency. But the inclusion of 2GB RAM for the iPhone 6s in 2015 helped it to keep up its usability in 2021.
