Introduction

In 2019, Apple finally added Dark Mode to iOS and iPadOS. In Safari, different parts of the browser automatically become black instead of white. Unfortunately, not all websites supported dark mode. But with the introduction of Safari extensions in iOS and iPadOS 15, that’s about to change. And one of the best Safari extensions for dark mode is Dark Browser.

Dark Browser Extension

The Dark Browser Safari extension is free, no ads extension (as of the time of writing) that activates “true dark mode” on Safari. It converts all websites into dark mode by converting the colors on the webpage. In my personal experience using the extension for the past couple weeks, I haven’t seen a website that hasn’t worked properly with the extension.

The extension also has a couple other great features. In addition to converting websites to dark mode, the extension also has a variety of other color themes available.

In addition, the extension also decreases image brightnesses (users can choose what level image brightness will be changed to, with the ability to change it from 20% brightness to 100% brightness). The extensions also gives users the ability to set specific rules for specific websites. These rules include whether dark mode should automatic, on, or off, how bright the images should be, and the color theme that the extension should add to the website.

Overall, I really like the Dark Browser extension. I haven’t really found any major negatives to using it, and I love the fact that it’s completely free, with no ads. Given how great of an app it is, I wouldn’t be surprised, however, if the developers decide to make it a paid app in the future. Even then, the app will likely still be worth it.

I’m not alone either. On the App Store, the extension has a rating of 4.8, with no 1 star ratings (there are currently 71 on the App Store).

Paid Alternatives

If you’re looking for something different, there are some similar paid dark mode extensions, such as Noir — Dark Mode For Safari, Dark Reader For Safari, and SafariDarkMode.

However, I think Dark Browser should be more than enough for most users. It works perfectly for most people, and as I said before, it’s completely free.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Dark Browser extension is a fantastic dark mode Safari extension used to convert webpages to dark mode. It’s a simple and fee app/extension, and I highly recommend it to all iOS and iPadOS users.
