Towards the end of each year, it’s helpful to take a little stock of how it went. If you’re wondering how yours went concerning the music you’ve been listening to, there’s nothing easier than to fire up Apple Music Replay. You might not have expected how much you listened to.

There’s big news this year. Apple, of course, is still battling with Spotify, and while it offers Replay in a limited form virtually all year long, it has the most value at the end of it. Spotify Wrapped, by contrast, offers a look back at your listening history only at the end of the year and for a limited time.

That’s why Apple has quite logically now rushed to redesign its concept of the recap. And that it’s a big step, he informs in the form of a press release. Unfortunately, it’s still a web-only experience, spoiling the user experience.

You can find the year-by-year replays in the Play tab at the bottom, but here you only see your favourite tracks ordered from the most played without any stats like the number of plays etc. On the other hand, you can also find your favourite music going back years.

How to start Apple Music Replay 2022

Whether in the Music app on a Mac or iPhone, you’ll now see a prompt to view the Year 22 Replay in the Play tab. However, it just mentions Go to Page, so you’ll be redirected to the web from the app (you can also get to the Replay via this link), meaning you’ll need to sign in again with two-factor authentication.

On an iPhone, Face ID is sufficient for this. On a Mac, you have to copy a code from a trusted device. After that, you’ll find your best songs, albums, artists, genres, playlists and more. Superfans can even find out if they’re one of the top 100 listeners of their favourite artist or genre.

When you click on the Play your highlight reel prompt, you’ll be notified of your entire year in fancy animations and your favourite music playing in the background as a Social Story. If you scroll down, you’ll scroll through the results manually.

It doesn’t matter what device you’re viewing Replay on. You’ll get important information everywhere. And it’s quite interesting to see that you’ve spent 35,000 minutes listening on this platform, played your favourite album 582 times, or played over 100 albums in an entire year.

Final thoughts

Try looking back to 2022, too. You might be surprised at the results Apple Music Replay will show you for 2022. I’m looking forward to next year, although I can’t 100% say I’ll be looking at results from Apple Music. Let's check my results, and if you want, share yours in the comments.
