HOWTO Type the Apple Command ⌘ Symbol (and ctrl ⌃, option ⌥, shift ⇧)
I dig speed 💨 and therefore get a kick out of all the keyboard shortcuts I can remember so I can go faster ⚡️. Since moving to Mac, I’ve really enjoyed the keyboard shortcuts with the Apple Command or Apple Open ⌘ key. Thanks to the ⌘ key, I don’t have to take my hands off of the home keys (asdf jkl;
), whereas when I have to move my left pinky off of a
home key to hit the Ctrl key in Windows.
The problem I hope to solve in this article is *sharing* my love of keyboard shortcuts with others. How do you type ⌘, ⌃, ⌥, or ⇧ (so I can share my favorite keyboard shortcut ⌘-⌃-⇧-4 which takes a screenshot and puts it in your clipboard)?
👇 THIS IS HOW 👇
- Use the keyboard shortcut ⌃-⌘-Space (⌃-⌘-␣ or Ctrl-Command-Space)
- Type one of the phrases below ⌨️ ️(the example shows typing ⌘ with “place of interest”), and use the️ arrow keys to select ↓, and hit enter ⏎
- PLACE OF INTEREST ⌘ (command)
- UP ARROWHEAD ⌃ (ctrl)
- OPTION ⌥ (option/alt)
- UPWARDS WHITE ARROW ⇧ (shift)
