Apple Silicon has undoubtedly revolutionized the tech industry, providing us enthusiasts with a worthy computer hardware upgrade. When I decided to upgrade this year from my 8-year-old Intel MacBook, I didn’t overthink about a RAM upgrade beyond 18GB for my daily use case. What truly matters is how the machine simplifies my workflow.
It’s hard to discuss workflows without mentioning macOS — the native operating system on any Mac. The efficiency with which your apps work on macOS is what makes or breaks the experience for most users. Every day, I see lists of the “Top 10 Apps” for various tasks. You’ve probably seen them too. Don’t get me wrong — I love those kinds of articles, having written one myself about the best Mac utility apps. However, what I’m getting at is that every app you use is managed by the OS in some form, right from opening and resizing windows to moving them to external monitors. There are some fantastic apps you can install or sideload to enhance your multitasking on macOS. I could easily list my favorite third-party apps.
