There was a lot of hope around iPadOS 18. New iPads have just arrived: the Pro with a powerful M4 chip and the Air with an M2 chip, both very capable.

What would Apple do to exploit this potential?

Compatibility with macOS software, perhaps?

Well, I just spent a month with iPadOS 18, and we have none of that. And you know what? That’s fine.

This fall, iPadOS is heading in the right direction, but it hasn’t completely reassured me. Let me explain.

More Personal

The first thing that stands out when installing iPadOS 18 is that the iPad becomes more personal. I want to say it’s thanks to artificial intelligence, but no.

Apple and the European Union are currently engaged in a little tug-of-war, so for now, we don’t know when Apple Intelligence will arrive in EU countries. But a few months of waiting in exchange for guarantees on data processing and free competition is fine.

In the meantime, iPadOS 18 has become more personal thanks to its new customization options. The iPad now has a new home…
