Apple is slated to launch 4 new models for the year 2020. The base iPhone 12 starting at $649 and going all the way up to $1399 for the fully specced iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Apple’s reported line-up for 2020 (EverythingApplePro)

5G will be the new norm. With the complete iPhone 12 line-up capable of 5GHz signals (mmWave only for Pro models). Apple is giving its competitors a run for their money. Earlier, Apple was known to charge a premium for their exceptional phones. Because they did everything in-house from software to hardware, and this time around it is paying off.

With other OEMs relying heavily on Qualcomm for their chipsets, the price bump for 5GHz capable smartphones has been phenomenal. Apple manufactured its own chipsets, and this time around Apple will benefit a lot. The new 5GHz handsets need an external modem that cannot be integrated into the processor, hence the bump in phone sizes of other manufacturers. The external modem is also creating some heat issues for the new phones. Apple knows how to deal with all these issues efficiently because they have been using the external modems for years. The introduction of 5GHz will not see a size or price bump. The heat dissipation is also optimized hence providing Apple an upper hand at 5GHz phones.

Display

The notch is here to stay. But according to reports, Apple is going to shrink it to a smaller size(as in the photo). No Micro-LED setup. It is under the development phase and would make its way next year.

Apple is tipped to go ahead with BOE displays with a 60Hz refresh rate for the standard pair. The Pro line-up is reportedly getting next-gen Samsung OLED panels with hardware capable of 120Hz displays. It remains with the Apple software engineers, whether to enable the higher refresh rates or not. But the amazing news is that all the iPhones are getting bezel-less OLED panels.

*If they possibly integrate 120Hz display then the display will adjust automatically. When required, it will bump to 120Hz else will stay at a lower 60Hz setting(Software Tweak). The 120Hz refresh rate eats a lot into the battery, so Apple wants maximum battery life for its iPhone users. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Design

The new iPhones will follow the boxy design philosophy, as found on the iPad Pro models. The Pro models will continue with Stainless Steel frame, whereas the standard models will receive an Aluminium casing. This boxy design was found to be more structurally rigid than the last design.

Camera

The Camera housing will feature a new LiDAR sensor. Bumping the count to 4 sensors on the back. The new telephoto lens is tipped to be capable of 3x Zoom and a software bump of up to 30x.

The front camera setup is going to shrink, and the new setup for Face-ID will be much better than the older ones. This new setup is set to detect the face of a person at a wider angle vision and also tipped to be having a face orientation reader. So that when you lie down your phone doesn’t tilt the sideways.

The standard models will have the same camera setup as of the iPhone 11 with the standard lens accompanied by a wide-angle lens.

Processor

The A14 chipset is tipped to be a true upgrade with CPU clock speeds going beyond 3GHz and capable of beating at least one MacBook in geek bench listings. Apple is the market leader of portable chipsets and this new chip would be no exception.

If all these tips and leads come out to be true, then Apple is going to have a pretty busy year meeting demands. Surely the new standard offerings will attract many new buyers to the iPhone stable and the Pro offering already has a huge fan following for god will continue it’s reign at the top end market.
