My iPhone Air first impressions!

Friday 19th September was a busy day for the Mark Ellis Media team. It started with me hot-footing it to the Apple Store at 8AM to collect two iPhones and ended at 11PM with two videos being published on YouTube.

We don’t get the new iPhones early. That’s not a call for you to drag the violin out from under the bed and offer your commiserations with a few swipes of the bow — it just means I’m later to the post than some with my reviews of Apple’s latest smartphone lineup.

This does give me one advantage, though. It means the initial rush of embargoed reviews has always settled by the time I unbox my purchases. Ideas, opinions, and assumptions are already starting to form, and I see it as my job to investigate them further.

Today, I want to talk about the iPhone Air. It’s the iPhone I’m the most excited about this year, and I have big plans for it.

And a couple of big concerns.

Hardware first impressions

Unboxing the iPhone Air felt like a special event. To put that in context, I’ve not felt excited about unboxing an iPhone for years. I can extend that to most smartphones, to be honest, with rare exceptions. The Samsung Z…
