My iPhone 16e review has caused a stir

Buying the iPhone 16e to review on my YouTube channel felt like a risk. Not a huge risk, but big enough to make the checkout process less enjoyable.

My tech YouTuber mates felt the same about their purchases. We were all doing it because we knew — or, at least, thought — we had to. We all run tech YouTube channels which focus quite heavily on Apple products, therefore ignoring the latest iPhone would be a bit daft, right?

There was a glimmer of hope. The iPhone 16e was almost universally panned as soon as it was announced. No MagSafe. A 60Hz display. A price tag which placed it smack-bang in the middle of an unwinnable battle against far better Android devices. Add all of that together, and you could end up with a video that incites a metric tonne of engagement in the comments section.

I waited a week to publish my review of the iPhone 16e for two reasons. The first was because I didn’t have time for a first impressions video. The second was because I actually wanted to use it as my main phone before casting judgement.
