Leaks are out! M2 Pro, M2 Max MacBook Pros and the Refreshed Mac mini rumours are going crazy. The performance leaps that we might see this year are off the charts, and I am just going crazy thinking about how Ultra-powered these machines will be.

Now you might remember earlier this year when Apple registered three new Macs in the eurasian database. These 3 Macs turned out to be the M1 Pro and Max MacBook Pros and the Ultra-powered Mac Studio.

Yes, Apple did release a new M2 MacBook Pro, but that is the base 13” model that has the exact same chassis as the 2020 model; that is why Apple did not include this in their new EEC Filing.

An EEC Filing is a trademark to show that Apple came up with the design, and to reserve all rights for that machine(style and performance both included)

Last year, Apple filed 4 of these EEC filings, and 3 of them were used up for the Macs that I mentioned before, out of which 2 of them were laptops and one was a Desktop.

A2686 EEC Filing — Mac mini?

A new filing, model number: A2686 has been filed recently by Apple(a few months ago), which is a desktop Mac which Apple has still not released yet. In my Opinion, it might just be the higher-end Mac mini.

The main reason I believe this is because back in March, Mark Gurman actually tweeted that Apple was testing the M2 chip, but he also mentioned that the M2 Mac mini is just around the corner.

While at the same time, saying that the Mac Pro and iMac Pro is also ready, but Apple hasn’t completely figured out their logistics for shipping.

Further, in April he tweeted in April again verifying that Apple is testing the M2 Mac mini; and since we got 3 out of 4 Macs out, it makes complete sense that the 4th Mac is the Mac mini.

Release Date

Mark Gurman is basically labelled as the best Apple leaker, as he has been right almost every single time regarding Apple releasing new hardware; this time he has estimated this launch to be sometime in October or November.

I feel that Apple is limiting their redesigns or new designs to one per event so that people anticipate their products. This marketing stunt has really increased their sales in the past 2 years since they switched to Apple Silicon.

They could have easily chosen to release the Mac mini during the WWDC event, but they would have to split the focus to 2 vastly different products that would have surely affected their sales for each.

Performance Update

The Mac mini is expected to be redesigned but with the same M2 chip as the MacBook Air, the only addition being that is a Desktop that has fans and more ports.

The performance of the M2 Mac mini will be slightly higher than the M2 MacBook Air. To know more about how much the M2 chip scored in various benchmarks, follow me so that you get a notification once I release the article later today.

Just a few days ago, Mark Gurman gave us another bombshell leak about the M2 Pro and Max MacBook Pros coming as early as the end of the year or early next. He further mentioned that Apple is in the process of developing a 12 and 15-inch MacBook Air.

But I feel that Gurman is reaching the limit now; A 12-inch MacBook Air would be nuts!

15-Inch MacBook Air

Yeah — No Mini Led or ProMotion Screen. It might just be a disappointment.

But I actually think it’s genius because i believe Apple is pushing their iPhone lineup strategy over to their MacBooks.

For example, if you’ve been following the leaks for the iPhone 14 lineup, there should be a regular iPhone 14 and a 14 max which has identical specs but with a larger size and display while at the same time having a 14 Pro and then a 14 Pro Max. They have the same specs, but again, a larger display for a more expensive price tag.

This computer will have the same chip lineup as the current M2 MacBook Air, the only upgrade being in the hardware; such as the speakers and microphone.

The Mac Pro

As we all know, Apple gave us a very interesting teaser at their March event:

Making our transition nearly complete with just one more product to go- Mac Pro

So what he’s talking about is that the Apple silicon transition that is supposed to end in November of 2022, as the is when Apple first announced the M1 Chip.

At that time, they mentioned that it will take them 2 years to transition all of their Macs over to Apple Silicon from the old, power-hungry Intel Chips.

Release Date

Back in March, Gurman gave us a solid leak about Apple testing about 9 new Macs that they will release over the Cours of the next 2 years; out of which there was a rumoured iMac Pro and Mac Pro

If you have read the post embedded above carefully, Majin Bu has confirmed that there is going to be a new 2022 Mac Pro and the processor code named Red Fern and he at the time thought it was going to launch in September; but i think it makes more sense to come in December.

Further, in the image he showed off the Ultra Fusion Links that Apple will be using to connect 4 different M1 Ultra dies’s together.

Performance

Due to having 4 massive M1 Ultra dies connected to each other(theoretically 8x4= 32 M1 chips connected) is capable of giving up to:

  • 88 Trillion operations per second.
  • 80 Core CPU
  • 256 Core GPU
  • 512 GB Unified Memory(RAM)
  • 456 Billion Transistors

Therefore, being a massive 720% faster than the Radeon Pro W6900X that was seen in the previous version of the Mac Pro(current version).

This massive perafarmnace will also be seen in the CPU, neural engine etc.

This computer will be beastly!

iMac Pro

Yeah!

A lot of rumours have been spreading about the iMac Pro, but will we actually see one soon, or are the leaks fake?

It has been speculated by major tech leakers such as Mark Gurman and Ming Chi Kuo that we will be seeing this beast of a machine some time next year(dat not specified).

Obviously, this might not be as powerful as the Mac Pro ,but it’s power might be either the same as the Mac Studio, or slightly more; maybe 2 M1 Ultra Chips or the addition of M2 Max chips?

14” iPad Pro

Just a few days ago, Ross Young(Works in TSMC) verified that a 14.1” iPad Pro is being made by Apple. He estimates that this iPad should release in early 2023, that is if the design is complete by then.

Further, other famous leakers have verified this. This could most probably contain the M2 Chipset as this will be the most Pro iPad in Apple’s Lineup!

Conclusion

So yeah, this is it, and I am sooooo excited to see this products getting released and in action!

Thanks for Reaching the END!
