When it comes to getting a laptop, the obvious question, ‘which laptop should you buy?’ isn’t as easy to answer as it may seem. With the vast options available in the market today the choice on which one to settle becomes very confusing.

But it is with little to no doubt that Apple’s MacBook series has risen to the challenge and continues producing high quality and most wanted laptops. So if you’ve settled for an Apple product the next question would be which exact one of their many laptops to purchase.

Despite the category of your price, there’s also the need for certain features. So when asked which laptop to buy, it is best to look at a set of criteria that everyone should consider before splurging on a new device. Today we put the best of Apple’s, The MacBook Pro against MacBook Air to see which one is the best.

Processor

Both Pro and Air come with 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processors, but they’re in different models. There is an impressive speed of the Air of about 1.6GHz but it is only Turbo Boost and dual-core to 3.6 GHz.

This means the Pro is a powerful one on the overall, while the chip in the Air is more about power balance and efficiency. You can also decide to upgrade, both of them are models which are expensive, which gives you an i5 quad core 2.4 GHz with a boost of Turbo of up to 4.1 GHz.

Storage

Storage of the Pro and Air both begin at 128 GB and increase to 256 GB for the upgrade. The Pro then upgrades up to 512 GB if you get the most expensive standard model.

When doing your MacBook purchase, you are at liberty to configure your models with the Air having the capacity to go up to 1 terabyte whereas the Pro goes even further at 2 TB. The 16 inch Pro moves up to 1 terabyte from starting at 512 GB for the i9 variant. It has the capacity to upgrade to 8 terabytes if you have the muscle for more money to hand.

Battery

According to the company, the Air can handle 12 hours of wireless web browsing and 13 hours of video playback, basically making it run for a full day. And when compared, the 13 inch Pro can support up to 10 hours of each and it is 11 hours of each for the 16 inch Pro. This makes it less, but not by a huge difference.

Portability

It is 11.97 inches wide and 0.59 inches thick whereas MacBook Air is between 0.16 and 0.61 thick in inches and 11.97 inches wide. Making it be an option for traveling which is lighter and thinner.

So all in all, it all comes down to the intended purpose of wanting a laptop in the first place. The price range for the two doesn’t vary by much so it’s best to look at the features when considering the MacBook laptop of your choice that you can readily afford.
