Replacing a Password Manager With Apple Passwords = One Less Subscription
I’ve depended on Apple’s password management for a year. iOS 18 looks even better
Everyone should use a password manager, and it ought to be in the operating system. Sadly, this wasn’t always true, so third parties stepped in.
That didn’t always end well. Third parties, for example, LastPass, have been compromised, which made me nervous. Read about that in:
I’m, therefore, glad that Apple added password management to its operating systems and continues to up its game. Since iOS 12, Apple’s password management supports third-party two-factor authentication and provides a very handy notes field since iOS 15.4.
The trouble is that it’s hard to spot. iOS/iPadOS 17 buries it in Settings. With iOS/iPadOS 18, Passwords is a separate app, making it much more convenient to use. There will also be a Windows app.
