The Apple Studio Display Reviews Are Wrong

It really is the Apple consumer display we’ve been waiting for

If I hadn’t placed an order for the Studio Display just minutes after Apple’s March 8th event I’d still be awaiting its arrival (The delivery dates on Apple’s website are currently up to 10 weeks out depending on the stand you choose). That would leave me reading the reviews and wondering whether I should cancel my order.

MKBHD’s review is titled “The Apple Studio Display is a Bad Deal”. The Verge’s review called it “a confounding miss” and “a bit of a nightmare”. Renee Ritchie’s review ends by stating he won’t be buying a Studio Display and recommending alternatives like the LG UltraFine 5K Display or a 4K gaming monitor. For all the sturm and drang, the negative reviews boil down to three key issues.

Camera

Perhaps the largest area of concern for reviewers is the Studio Display’s Center Stage camera. The Verge saysit looks awful in good light and downright miserable in low light”. The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Sterns said: “ that it reminded me of the camera on my old BlackBerry”.
