The apps that have worked their way into my system in 2023

This year has been like no other — both in terms of my work and life in general.

That’s largely because I’ve had health issues and, having had a stroke at the beginning of the year, I was in hospital for six months before I was able to get out and pick up my work.

Therefore, the apps that you see below have become important both professionally but also personally.

They’re the apps that I wasn’t using regularly at the beginning of the year but are now getting screen time regularly.

Foodnoms

On my return home from the hospital, it became more important than ever that I was able to track my nutritional intake.

Like many people, for me, that meant MyFitnessPal, which had been the first nutritional app that I had downloaded and had become a staple on my phone. It contained all of my weight and calorie information for the past 10 years — if not more.

However, since the app was sold by Under Armour, it has become much more bloated. Ads have become more prevalent, the amount of information available to me became less valuable and the nutritional data seemed to take a back seat to more and more blog content.
