Here is why!

Last month, Apple announced the new operating system for the iPhone, which — despite the disappearance of the iPod Touch — is still called iOS. All iPhones starting from the iPhone 8 will receive the update. This means that the iPhone 6S (+) and the iPhone 7 (+) models will no longer be supported. The removal of support for the iPhone 6S is understandable, those devices were already quite slow on iOS 15, but the iPhone 7 still seems fully capable of running iOS 16. That’s why I give you three reasons why the iPhone 7 should have gotten iOS 16!

#1 Still great performance

To clarify: I know that there are no giant leaps in performance generation after generation and I also know that Apple’s A11 chip introduced the neural engine which turned out to be a pretty big deal later on, but I just want to prove that the iPhone 7 was generally suitable for getting iOS 16 performance-wise. Maybe with slightly fewer features because of the absence of the neural engine, but still very capable.

To demonstrate this, I’ll show you some boring numbers. That way I’m not making anything up and you can draw your own conclusions.

I found it interesting to compare the iPhone 6S, 7 and 8. In my opinion, the iPhone 6S definitely had to lose support for the latest OS this…
