The M6 MacBook Pro just keeps looking better and better
Apple is poised to deliver on the full promise of M-series silicon.
I’ve written several stories recently, making the dual points that Apple has failed to deliver on the ultra-portability promise of Apple silicon-based MacBooks and that the rumored M6 MacBook Pro will finally be a significant step in redressing this shortcoming. To those who have responded that Apple’s MacBooks are already the best (they are) and already ultra-portable (they no longer are), I submit the following from episode 629 (An Upsetting and Confusing Time to Be Me) of the Accidental Tech Podcast, where co-host Marco Arment rhapsodizes about the MacBook Air’s portability compared to the MacBook Pro:
I would love to get the MacBook Pro 14, but it just doesn’t feel as nice as this. When you’re carrying it around in a bag and picking it up and opening it up, going in and out of trains and planes and stuff, oh my god, the MacBook Air is so much nicer than even the 14-inch Pro. It is so much lighter and it just feels better in your hand. It’s easier to manipulate, open and close, in and out of bags, it is nicer.
