Greyhound — Apple TV+

As reported by Deadline, Apple TV+ has won an intense auction for a new sci-film which stars Tom Hanks which has been scheduled to premiere later this year. Deadline also stated that the film is likely to be a contender for awards season.

Last year, Apple acquired Greyhound and saw viewership and subscriber numbers rapidly increase leading them to change strategy and offer significantly more feature length films than originally anticipated when the service launched. This also marks the third partnership of Apple and Tom Hanks if you count his upcoming war series, produced by Apple Studios, “Masters of the Air”.

The film is set to explore the story of a man, a robot and a dog who form a family. Hanks stars in the movie playing the title character Finch who is a robotics engineer who has lived in a bunker for a decade and is one of a few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event. The trio embark on a journey into the American West as Finch discovers the joy of being alive.

Miguel Sapochnik, credited for directing some of the most ambitious episodes of the acclaimed series “Game of Thrones” directs the film. When it premieres on Apple TV+ later this year all you will need to watch is an active subscription to Apple TV+ which can be accessed through the Apple TV app or at tv.apple.com. Also coming soon to the lineup of originals includes a world surf league documentary and the second season of “The Morning Show” which premiers this summer.
