The announcement has finally been made, and now most of us are aware of Apple’s new Vision Pro; it’s initial entry into the augmented reality space.

We’ve seen the device. Seen the demos. And, somewhat shockingly, we’ve also seen the device’s starting price of $3,500.

Which immediately left many people asking, “What was Apple thinking?”

And then simply dismissing it out of hand.

I think they’re missing the big picture.

I suspect that most of those people think the price is too high because they see the Vision Pro as little more than an accessory to a computer.

Or as “just another” VR headset.

Or, perhaps, as a fancy, overly expensive replacement for a monitor.

But what if it’s not simply an adjunct to your computer?

What if it becomes your computer?

That might be hard to believe. After all, today we’re used to the idea of a “power” user sitting at a desk, surrounded by an array of monitors, peripherals, and other paraphernalia.

But what if we don’t need to dedicate an entire room or desk to that? What if any room, or desk, or table, or chair could be your office? Your studio? Your theater? Your gaming environment?
