Introduction

Back in June 2020, more than 2 years ago, Apple started its two-year transition and promised that all of Apple’s devices will only feature Apple’s own chips.

Apple promised a move away from using chips made by Intel and other manufacturers, and that they will use their own silicon which they have been developing for years. Apple promised that this transition will take around two years, and at the end of those two years, every single device will be running on their chips, but obviously, this was not the case. The first wave of chips, starting with the M1 chip and all the chips that were later on derived from it, has come and gone, and the Mac Pro still remains on Apple’s website with an Intel-only configuration.

Now that the second wave of chips is here, when is the Mac Pro’s turn to get its long-awaited upgrade? And what is truly happening at Apple?
