Finally! Our Apple overlords have graced us with a new(ish) external display. A ₹1,60,000 display. It’s 27” with a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera taken straight from the iPads which is capable of Centre Stage. From the sound (pun intended) of it, great speakers and what Apple calls studio-quality mics — which are good enough for video calls. The whole thing rocks an A13 chip inside which does…a few things and doesn’t do a few others.

But who is it for? Let’s dive into this:

1. The Goodies
2. The Weakest Part
3. The Heart
4. A Studio Display with a side of…?
5. What about us iPad users?
6. Should you buy it?

1. The Goodies

The speakers, mics and camera are, arguably, the best parts of the Studio Display. Whatever Mac you use, you connect this and have the option to use the Display’s wide camera with Centre Stage. No Mac has this. As someone who uses their iPad Pro as a primary device, I know the benefits of Centre Stage. With Centre Stage, you’ll not only be at the centre, but you have features like face tracking and getting a wider view when multiple people are in frame. It has a great use case and it’s a welcome addition to the Mac.
