A few days back, I complained here about the Apple Reminders app lacking the features I want. You don’t need to read that post to understand this, but I’ll link to it just for completeness.

The TLDR version is that I only want to keep certain records in the Completed Reminders list. The app itself won’t do that, but Sean P Donovan left a comment suggesting that Shortcuts could do what I want.

I hastily looked at Shortcuts actions for Reminders and mistakenly concluded that it couldn’t, but fortunately, Sean read my reply and pointed out what I had missed. Yes, indeed, Shortcuts can extract what I want from Reminders and prune Completed to remove what I do not want.

Nice! But then I had an epiphany. If Shortcuts can do that, maybe so can Siri. I gave it a try with “Hey Siri, show me Reminders about Chores”.

Holy Shmoly! It sorta kinda worked. That “Reminders about Chores” gave me what I wanted…
