@Hotmessbian Makes Painfully Relatable Content

Last winter, 23-year-old Cheyenne was studying psychology at a university in a small city in Pennsylvania when she started to follow a few lesbian meme accounts on Instagram. She couldn’t get enough of their content and quickly realized they weren’t posting nearly as often as she would’ve liked. At the time, she was hesitant to start her own account, afraid her memes would be “bad,” she tells Mad Dyke, so she suggested the idea to a girl she met on Tinder and they decided to do it together. When that girl ended up flaking, Cheyenne eventually got up the nerve to do it alone. Six months later and her account, @Hotmessbian, is one of the (if not the) most popular lesbian meme accounts on Instagram, with nearly 40,000 followers. This was a shock to a girl who initially thought her memes wouldn’t be good enough to gain a following.

“I’m surprised by how fast it has grown,” Cheyenne tells Mad Dyke. She adds that she’s pretty much abandoned her personal Instagram account at this point and spends all of her time on @Hotmessbian. Her audience has come to expect several hilarious, horny, relatable memes a day — usually one every two to three hours. She creates content about everything from the experience of being an awkward closeted teenager to being solicited for threesomes to cat lesbians to the sweet feeling of laying on a soft pair of tiddies.
