Intentions

Our initial vision, which has remained at the core of the project throughout, was that of manipulating a multitude of beefy analogue inputs (switches, jacks, headsets, big red buttons, etc.), combined with high-intensity communications between teammates, with the possibility of espionage and sneakiness.

The setting

We thus settled on an early cold war setting, which gave us an aesthetic and thematic direction which drove us to further experiment with our initial vision, our alternate controller was thus born.

The cold war is at its height. Tensions haven’t been this high in decades between the two mighty nations that keep the world balanced on a knife edge.
Nuclear annihilation hangs in the balance.

Gameplay

From this starting point we made multiple iterations of concepts. From submarines to airplanes, from 2 players to 4 players, etc.
After one week of conception we were settled on a gameplay that would lead to what we are presenting you today as you read this lines.

You play the part of two aviators, a pilot and a copilot, dispatched to the area of operations and ready to defend your homeland.

You take control of the latest in a new generation nuclear bombers.
The objective of each crew is to take down the enemy’s bomber.

Hardware presentation

In the cockpit, each aviator has tasks and tools corresponding to his role, and needs to communicate with his crewmate.

The pilot controls the plane’s movement, while the copilot tracks their enemy’s location.

To fire on target, the crew must cross reference each other’s long range radar result; however, each crewmate can only scan one axis of the map.

Communication

But beware! Any intel you share can be intercepted by the other crew.

In this close quarters contest of aerial superiority, knowledge is power, and communication and coordination between crewmates is key.

Conclusion

Trust your gut, and use your analytical skills to boldly decide on which coordinates fire!
