Madaleno Response to Ben Jealous Regarding “credibility about the treatment of women in politics”
KENSINGTON, Md –State Senator and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rich Madaleno, Jr. released the following statement in response to the Jealous campaign’s allegation that Senator Madaleno has “no credibility” regarding the treatment of women in politics:
“For the Jealous campaign to claim that I have no credibility regarding the treatment of women in politics is the height of hypocrisy. My candidacy has been endorsed by Maryland NOW PAC, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland PAC, and Baltimore Women United PAC. These groups clearly believe that I not only have credibility on women’s issues, but that I will champion women and stand with them, especially when women are bullied.
“While Ben Jealous and his campaign go through extreme contortions to outrageously connect a sexual harassment case in the Prince George’s County government to me, the Jealous campaign employs a firm, Revolution Messaging, that has its own troubling sexual harassment history. It’s time for the Jealous campaign to come clean on their #MeToo issues, starting with firing Revolution Messaging as their digital strategist and fundraiser, and returning the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised through this firm.
“Standing with women and against harassment of any kind is a demonstration of real progressive values practiced — not preached and then cast aside.”
