Maddox Gallery is delighted to announce wildlife photographer David Yarrow as the latest addition to its roster of talented contemporary artists.

David Yarrow is a photographer, artist and conservationist who has ventured to some of the world’s most isolated locations, on a mission to record and preserve the Earth’s last great wildernesses. His unique images of wildlife, communities and landscapes have won global acclaim, and we are delighted to now represent his work at Maddox Gallery.

Yarrow’s work has transcended wildlife photography, and is now collected and shown as fine art in some of the most famed galleries around the world. He has previously exhibited in London’s Saatchi Gallery, the Phillip’s Gallery and Christie’s global headquarters, and has also gained international exposure with shows in New York and Hong Kong.

Rizzoli describes his work as “incredibly intimate — close enough to touch — portraits.”

“Yarrow takes the familiar lions, elephants, tigers, polar bears and makes them new again by creating iconic images that deliberately connect with us at a highly emotional level.”

Yarrow has cited war photographer Robert Capa as a major influence, and adopts his artistic approach: “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” He photographs dangerous wildlife using innovative methods, such as coating his camera casing in enticing animal scents.

“There is no room for the banal,” Yarrow claims. “There has been constancy in my determination to go the extra mile.”

Yarrow focuses on wildlife photography to address environmental and geopolitical issues. He is the affiliated photographer for the African Conservation Charity Tusk Trust, which looks to link the preservation of Africa’s natural heritage and wildlife with the future of its land, culture and people.

Tusk patron, His Royal Highness Prince William, says of Yarrow: “David’s images have the power to engage and influence our appreciation and knowledge of some of the planet’s most extraordinary flora and fauna.”
