The fine art investment world may seem intimidating to the uninitiated, but nothing could be further from the truth. The market is full of passionate, knowledgeable and supportive professionals who want to help individuals find works they truly love.

At the very end of 2016, Artsy considered how the art world might evolve in 2017, and more specifically how it could change for the better. Illustrator Liana Finck lent her talent to sketch each of the 10 resolutions that Artsy proposed, creating a fascinating cartoon strip.

Here at Maddox Gallery, we greatly enjoyed studying these illustrations and discussing the resolutions. As passionate art curators and expert fine art investment consultants, we are committed to making improvements within the market. Here’s how we work to address four of those issues in particular…

  • Throw out out artspeak

We are huge advocates of making the fine art investment market open to everyone, regardless of an individual’s experience within the art world.

Our investment art consultants help to educate gallery visitors and answer any questions they may have, making the art investment process more supportive and transparent.

Please do contact us for our a fine art investment guide, which is of great help to anyone considering investment art.

  • Remember to look at the art

In order to invest, it’s essential for individuals to find art they really love and connect with. As we always advise our clients, the best way to start is to “invest with your eyes.”

The beauty of art is that it touches different people in different ways. For this reason, it’s important to invest in pieces of art that personally brings you joy, rather than simply choosing the name of a leading artist and hoping for the best.

We have been delighted with the reaction of thousands of visitors to the art we present in our two galleries in Mayfair; the exhibitions, functions as well as pop-up galleries we have presented in different countries.

  • Break down the hierarchy for what passes for art in our culture

Maddox Gallery is proud to represent an incredible variety of artists and works. From Robi Walters’ mixed-media collages to the acclaimed ceramic artworks of Jason Dussault, Chris Bracey’s neon signs, Bran Symondson’s repurposed AK-47s… the list goes on.

These artists are complemented by others who work in more conventional mediums, such as Tony Kelly’s photography, Michael Moebius’ famous bubblegum prints and Chris Moon’s paintings.

In fact, Robi Walters and Chris Moon collaborated on a joint exhibition at Maddox Gallery last year, demonstrating the benefits of different creative energies being represented together.

  • Empower artists who are making positive change in the world

We are honoured to work with all the artists represented at Maddox Gallery, many of whom are involved in setting trends within the art world.

Last year alone, Bradley Theodore explored art in a virtual reality world with Google’s Tilt Brush, Retna featured in LA’s Olympic bid video, and Ilma Gore displayed her controversial Trump artwork at Maddox Gallery after it was banned from being shown in the US and now one of the most famous artworks in the world.

Maddox Gallery also tries to make a positive impact within the art world in a personal sense. Last year, these efforts included a contemporary art auction for the charity Caudwell Children, and a secret auction for Art on a Postcard in support of the Hepatitis C Trust.

We hope to inspire further change in the fine art investment market, and help more art lovers to find works they will not only enjoy but in our considered opinion, prove to be an investment.
