There you are trying to play it all cool, then a dose of reality whips around and gives you a smack.

In the form of food stuck in your teeth or your shirt on inside out.

Or, If you’re like me, this morning, taking the stairs in a busy hotel lobby and tripping as I go up. Only a minor wound…

to my pride.

In the grand scheme, little faux pas aren’t very important, but when they happen {TO YOU} they feel awful!

I once read in the “olden days” when women quilted out of necessity and possibly boredom, they would often include what is called a “humility” block in a quilt they made by hand.

A humility block is actually a single piece within the pattern turned the wrong way on purpose, making the quilt “imperfect.” The reason behind a humility block reminds us that no one is perfect.

Humans can be imperfect beings for sure.

Next time you accidentally spill your wine at dinner or fail to notice the big stain on your tie, consider it a personal “humility block” in life,

and the universe’s way of keeping your humility in check.
