$whoami — A guy from the late 20th century.

What this blog is about?

This blog is about how not to turn yourself against the technology of the 21st century and upcoming.

The Story

Technology is meant to enhance human capabilities. It has always been around here and keeps on evolving. We’ve come to an era where Virtual Reality has become one of the most prominent technologies in the world. A lot of researchers around the world are exploring it for creating endless possibilities for the well-being of humans.

However, at the same time, these technologies are also causing a lot of issues such as anti-social behaviour, social isolation, privacy, addiction, etc. but are it really the technology that’s causing these issues?

Well, It’s not that the technology is bad. It’s just that we are not using it consciously. The biggest problem is that we are compulsive in nature. We just start things but don’t know when to stop.

When we’re in school we say “I want a really good college” this keeps us busy for some 3–4 years of life. Then in college, we say “I need a good job” which takes another 4 years of life. After getting the job we say “I need more package” so it takes about 8–10 years of life. Then we say “I need a good wife/husband”. After getting that we say “I want to make my son a Doctor/Engineer” and it goes on.

Then we question ourselves, “Why we are not happy even though we are the most comfortable generation in the history of human evolution?” It’s the previous generations that worked on the technologies to bring us this comfort.

That day isn’t far away when machines will take out most of the human jobs. Basically, anything that can be done with a memory, will be done by machine. Does it mean that we techies will be jobless? No. A scientific calculator didn’t replace mathematicians. It just helped to get things done quickly.

Just like that, no matter how advanced technology will become, it won’t replace humanity. The only thing we need to realize as early in life as possible is that human consciousness is the only way forward.

If you are not using technology just for the assistance of surviving well but for making your life completely dependent upon it, then you’ll always be miserable.

Before going to sleep, think of your bed as a death bed and just ask yourself, “Whatever you did until this point, was it worthwhile?”

I think this is the perfect time for this generation to not just use the technology for their well-being, but for the well-being of nature itself so that the upcoming generations would be proud of us. Because without technology we can survive, but without nature, we won’t.
