Life @ MadHive: Technical Recruiter Edition

A company is only as good as its talent. In this edition of “Life @ MadHive,” we’ll be following Erricka Dumas, Technical Recruiter. Erricka joined MadHive eight months ago and has already had a substantial impact on the company’s growth. Each day is different for Erricka, but if she’s lucky she’s able to squeeze in a morning workout, family time, and a “wine down” reading session — all while prospecting for new talent to join the MadHive team.

First, a little about Erricka:

• She’s originally from Roxbury, NJ, and currently lives in Budd Lake, NJ.
• In her free time, she enjoys cooking, trying out new restaurants, and spending quality time with her two kids, Jayde and Nyan.
• She’s a big music lover. You can find her bumping Frank Ocean and Amy Winehouse as she goes about her day.

7:30am
Erricka wakes up and heads out for a morning walk to get her recruiter juices flowing.

9:00am
Still in need of a caffeine boost, Erricka brews herself a french vanilla coffee with simple syrup. She then heads to her balcony to officially begin her workday in the nice weather.

11:00am
Time for Erricka’s first interview of the day. She speaks with a candidate for an open Solutions Engineer role. This position works alongside the Product, Sales, and Client Success teams to identify client needs and generate customized technical solutions.

12:00pm
Lunch time! Today Erricka’s son, Nyan, helps her make a pot of mac & cheese.

12:30pm
Erricka joins her monthly “Cawfee Tawk” meeting, a company-wide series in which three MadHivers are paired at random to have a morning chat. This month, Erricka spends time with Dórian Langbeck, a Senior Software Engineer based in Brazil, and Sam Esposito, an Associate Product Manager based in New York.

2:00pm
Erricka takes her second interview of the day, this time with a candidate for a new Platform Stability Analyst role. This position works with the Engineering, Product, and Client Success teams to check the integrity of MadHive’s platform and optimize features through data analysis.

2:30pm
In between meetings, Erricka runs out to drop her daughter, Jayde, off at work. One of Erricka’s favorite parts of her day is catching up with Jayde during their car ride.

3:30pm
Erricka meets with a software vendor to demo a new applicant tracking system. This platform aims to better systemize MadHive’s recruiting process, allowing Erricka to focus less on the manual aspects of recruiting and more on finding elite talent. Erricka’s cat, Sephora, pays her a visit during the meeting and helps keep her company.

5:15pm
Erricka touches base with Aimee Lacks, HR Director, and Leyla Navi, Director of Operations, to discuss upcoming job offers they plan to send to candidates. Erricka finds the most rewarding part of her job is watching prospective hires transform into MadHivers.

6:30pm
After a long day of work, Erricka kicks her feet up and “wines down” with a book. She’s currently reading The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, a recommendation from her coworker Leyla Navi. She also has the chance to capture a photo of Sephora overlooking a beautiful sunset.

8:30pm
Erricka further unwinds with a little Netflix, helping recharge her battery before calling it a day.
