For those who are unfamiliar, Black Tiger was an action-adventure arcade game. As you enter the game with minimal gear, or course, you embark on your quest. Progressing through the levels soon leads to finding old men frozen in place, as well as some store to buy new gear.

One of my favorites part about this game was upgrading my gear. It was an amazing feature for an arcade game, as well as the graphics being good for the day, with complex backgrounds, adversaries, and animations.

Every stage was different and featured fresh difficulties, such as avoiding dangerous traps and defeating enormous creatures. Besides being challenging, the game had a learning curve that inspired me to keep playing for that next piece of gear. But despite the difficulty, I always felt a sense of pride when I completed a difficult level or achieved a new high score.

Of course, the thrill of adventure was one of its great draws. My goal in the game was to explore every nook and corner, unearth mysteries, and slay the demon king. It was an exciting experience, and whenever I played, I always felt a calling for adventure.

I’ve often wondered would a remake of Black Tiger would look like with updated graphics, while the core gameplay elements of the game remain.

Nostalgia aside, the Game was also occasionally unfair because of the player’s lack of control over random events and quick deaths. A remake might tweak the difficulty, making the game harder but also more fair.

And the story was sparse, with most of the content coming from the manual and the scant level-interval dialogue. A relaunch that expands on the universe of Drakkhen and offers gamers a better knowledge of the people and events would be fantastic.

I’d also include co-op to let two players play together either locally or online. This would give the game a new depth.

A reboot would be a welcome addition to the gaming industry in my eyes.
