Discussions are always great especially when we set forward our ideas, value, impact, purpose, and role. Design related communities which involves Architects, Industrial Designers, Graphic Designers; Experience Designers; Interaction Designers; Urban Planners.

Involving ourselves in a diversified crowd helps us to understand their value of intuition and abductive reasonings to complex problems for the unpredictable world.

When it comes to discussions, there’s no universal answer to the question. It’s an art, nobody will get it right all the time. But one thing is for sure we should be discussing the value of the Design Process. While collaborating we engage and involve discussions more on democratic power of design practice and values.

Sometimes its good have an unconventional discussion with folks who carry different view points.

Are you wondering where to find such communities?
Then its time to reveal the link associated with the title D’break.

What’s D’Break?

D’break is an initiative by a creative community called Madrasters, This community is built for design geeks, those who are eager to Learn and Share.

The Event

Madrasters D’break in collaboration with INTO Design Research and WeBe Design Lab.

On 19th November 2016, audience started filing in around 10:30AM,
The venue was a comfortable atmosphere which is best suited to socialize; It’s called “The SOAPBOX” its a platform for an impromptu expression of art, culture and vivacious meetups.

We had pre-surveyed participants, so we had some idea of everyone’s expertise level.

Speaker

Kavitha Mohanraj,
Founder & Design Researcher at INTO* Design | Research.

Kavitha truly believes in Simplicity — with a capital “S”. She says that every design proceeds towards the stated goal based on the concept, the idea. Architecture is a pragmatic art. To become art it must be built on a base of necessity.

Sharing

Kavitha went through her design approaches, as well as some inspiring examples which ignited a thoughtful discussion.

The excellent part about Kavitha’s talk was how comfortably she tapped audience pulse. She walked everyone through her personal experience. We had no idea about what she was going to talk about beforehand, but she totally surprised everyone with her simplistic approach.

Participants were so receptive and actively posed their questions and opinions on approach towards design and the pain points of selling a concept.

Real discussions are eye-opening and revealing.

Both INTO* Design and WeBe Design Lab team did a fantastic job delivering their expert opinions. Until we hear it from the mouth of an expert we usually don’t realize our professional threats and opportunities.

A design problem is not something to be overcome, but an opportunity to be embraced. The best design solutions do not make a problem go away, but accept the problem as a necessary state of the world. Frequently they are little more than an eloquent restatement of the problem.

Good ideas come from everywhere.

While the event was a big success, now its time to gear up for our D’Break.
We would like to thank Prob Gyan for organising such a thoughtful setup.
