At Maersk Growth, we invest in and partner with talented startups and visionary innovators to digitise, democratise, and decarbonise supply chains. We offer value beyond capital to our startups by leveraging the expertise and scale of Maersk to enable our companies to launch earlier, scale faster and explore a joint strategic fit.

By doing so, we support the integrator vision of Maersk — to connect, protect, and simplify our customers’ supply chains — which brings a profound opportunity to harness the power of new technologies.

Aligning the speed, creativity, and tenacity of startups with the scale of the industry can enable profound changes in our customers’ supply chains.

Following the announcement of Maersk Growth’s participation in Dexory’s 2022 seed funding round, we are delighted to reveal the next phase of our partnership and collaboration.

Maersk will partner with Dexory via a PoC to deliver new value and capabilities to the warehouse floor. Dexory’s solution uses autonomous robotics to collect real-time data insights, providing dynamic, real-time scanning and data-processing capabilities that will deliver new value and capabilities to existing warehouse assets.

Dexory’s solution utilises autonomous robots equipped with scanning and data processing capabilities to feed high-quality and high-density data, supporting enhanced visibility and process optimisation within warehouses.

Without occupying valuable human hours, every step of product handling, from inbound to storage to shipping, can be logged, interpreted, contextualised, and visualised autonomously. High-quality images and data can further underwrite the correct and effective handling of goods each step of the way.

More importantly, this process support improving operational efficiency, and process standardisation can be implemented without altering operating practices or changing health and safety considerations.

“The PoC with Dexory brings an exciting opportunity for a multi-disciplinary Maersk team to partner with and test innovative technology to expand our capabilities and improve customer outcomes. The most exciting part is really looking ahead to the future potential the solution holds, and how we, through a proper integration, are working towards real-time visibility to inventory, with data and insights which really will allow us to optimise operations.”

- Ida Christine Brun, Senior Portfolio Manager, Maersk Growth

Dexory’s operational solution alone can drive significant strategic value in the warehouse; however, it is with the implementation of the digital twin technology that things can become even more exciting and profound for operations and strategic planning.

Through the creation of a digital twin of the warehouse, its flow of goods and physical processes, the platform can generate insights and, ultimately, simulation to understand the historic activity, formulate a basis for further optimisations and explore “what if?” questions for evolving customer solutions. This allows sharing of brand-new insights for the business and customers and gives back countless hours of analytical work for colleagues to drive value-add in other parts of the business.

“It’s reassuring to see such trust placed in Dexory from globally recognised logistics leaders like Maersk. The trial has already begun, and we’re looking forward to bringing Maersk valuable data insights and expanding into other Maersk facilities.”

- Andrei Danescu, Dexory’s CEO

The initial Maersk — Dexory deployment will focus on an autonomous stock-taking use case. Given Dexory’s data platform and robotic capabilities, the solution can be quickly scaled in a standardised manner to new locations, connecting and simplifying our customers’ supply chains and bringing new insights and value from our existing warehouse assets and operations.

We are excited to see where this promising new hardware and software platform may take us and appreciative of the hard work from Dexory and the multi-disciplinary Maersk team to get this exciting endeavour underway.

This PoC is the first of hopefully many partnerships between Dexory and Maersk, and we at Maersk Growth are excited to follow along wherever this journey takes us. We see relevant whitespace and great possibilities for Dexory to implement its solution and become a value-adding player in increasing both safety and efficiency across the broader scope of the supply chain.

Amongst (many) other interesting fields, we, in Maersk Growth, are excited about Air cargo as an obvious industry that would benefit from robotics and real-time data as Air cargo facilities face operational challenges, including under-reported volumes and misdeclaration of air cargo, as well as inaccurate data. This ultimately results in incorrect storage charges and reduced loading efficiency, which has a direct margin impact. However, this can all be addressed using autonomous robots and real-time data.

“Dexory’s solution has wide-reaching potential and capability to transform process automation and real-time warehouse visibility. With typically high-value and high-velocity flows of goods, air cargo and air-side partners are natural customers of this exciting technology. Andrei, Oana, Adrian, and team Dexory have made incredible progress to serve challenging and complex operational needs. It is incredibly exciting to see Dexory’s solution abstract away real commercial and operational complexity for their customers”
