Disney Magic Kingdoms Video Game Review (MM #12)

For those unfamiliar, Disney Magic Kingdoms is a video game available on PC, Android, and iPhone, In the game, users can build their own Disneyland-like park where your favorite characters roam and have adventures. Mickey is the caretaker of the park. Before the game begins, Meleficent curses the park and takes away all of its magic. It is the player’s job to undo the curse and bring joy back to the theme park. As you play, you unlock various storylines and battle different beloved characters. As the game progresses, players defeat Emporer Zurg of Toy Story fame, Scar from The Lion King, and more. With each progression of the game, more quests are unlocked. Players collect magic and gems as currency to use on buildings, characters, land, and more. The game updates periodically and events featuring different films are a big feature.

I’ve been playing the game regularly since Jan. 2017, first on my iPhone, then laptop. The game is fun, engaging, and a blast for any Disney fan. It’s easy for children to start, but not so easy that adults get bored. There are events focused on specific characters or accomplishing certain goals. There are large and small quests throughout that follow multiple story arcs. I don’t even mind the paywall as I only really use it if I have my heart set on a specific character.
