How & Why we standardized our APIs

At Magnet.me we’re currently running 40+ self-built services in production. As you’d expect most of these expose some sort of internal API to manage and manipulate the data they’re responsible for. And while microservices give great freedom to backend developers in choosing languages, libraries, and approaches, they should also take great care to design consistent APIs so they are easy to use, and appear consistent and coherent to its users. To achieve this at Magnet.me we follow a couple simple guidelines.
