Two and a half years ago, I started my first job in the engineering sector, and in my second week, I became a client of Fluxx.

Since then, I have embarked on a monumental journey of learning and new experiences. Some of my highlights were:

  • Joyful January when we set out to bring joy to each other every week in January. My colleague made me a bird box because he knew I loved flying.
  • The cook-and bake-offs. I particularly enjoyed the butternut squash round (because I won). Oh, and Angus, if you’re reading this, we’re still waiting for your sweet potato dish!
  • The socials, particularly the one at Dabbers Bingo when we managed to win three prizes between the six of us!
  • The moments we praised each other for achieving something we didn’t expect to
  • Feeling part of the Fluxx family

Sorry if you were expecting to read some more businessy reflections. Those two years weren’t about learning how to be a consultant and design products and services that actually work (even though I did, working side-by-side with so many Fluxxers).

They were about unearthing a side to myself I never knew existed, realising I was a people person, that I cared deeply about helping and coaching others to do new and audacious things and understanding that “work” was more than just objectives, professional training and outcomes.

Fluxx exists to realise untapped potential, to bring joy and human progress. And I’ve experienced that first-hand.

Fast-forward and I can now call myself a Fluxxer. One month in and I’m working in the insurance industry, redefining and shaping the future of protection products, motivated to bring the same joy and human progress to others that was brought to me.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t suffering with a small amount of imposter syndrome since joining Fluxx. I mean who wouldn’t in an organisation full of inspiring, playful and humble humans?

Thank you Fluxx — the next round of bingo is on me!
