“What does that mean if you can’t love yourself, I am constantly working on improving myself isn’t this self love, most clients ask me?”
This is a common response I receive from my clients, when I chat about loving yourself. When you don’t know or understand what self love is and yet everyone always believes they are loving themselves, or maybe your like Barbara Walters, who recently said on The View television program, “oh I know we hear it all the time, you have to love yourself, and it is the hardest ting to do.”
In truth self love does not require self improvement, but self-acceptance. There are no special conditions, no intelligence, no financial status, no elaborate sacrifices, no nothing. Self acceptance is freely available, always everywhere to everyone. Self-acceptance is self love, and happiness.
Think about it, without self-acceptance, peace is impossible but with self-acceptance, peace of mind is yours. Without self-acceptance, love has to wait but with self-acceptance love is easy and is welcomed. Without self-acceptance, there is no happiness, but with self-acceptance, you will know happiness. Without self-acceptance, the truth hurts, but with self-acceptance the truth is healing. Without self-acceptance, you can easily judge everyone and accept no one into your life fully. Without self-acceptance you are always hiding who you really are, but with self-acceptance you allow your intuition, your spirit to guide you. Without self-acceptance you are never satisfied, there is never enough, but with self-acceptance guess what, you are enough. Without self-acceptance you can never be free of judgment, guilt, anger, fear….. but with self-acceptance you true potential is free to flow. Without self-acceptance miracles are never possible, but with self acceptance miracles do exist.
Self love doesn’t demand self-improvement; it asks only for unconditional self-acceptance. The willingness to accept that your unconditioned self is whole, happy, and well already. Self improvement is your ego’s greatest hope for happiness, self-acceptance on the other hand is ultimately, giving up the ego which is your learned beliefs of inner lack.
- Improve your ego or
- Let go of your ego and accept yourself, your wholeness, your unconditioned self which is love and happiness.
When you really understand what self love is, it is not easy, but it certainly isn’t as complicated as our ego’s, our conditioned selves like it to be.
