Seeds of Influence: How Conception Mold Child Development

The child’s development is highly influenced by the surrounding during conception or pregnancy. The scriptures Mahabharata and Bhagavatam contain many incidents of the same. Here is a list of characters where we can directly see the implications of the conception of the child.
- Karna: Kunti summoned Surya to check the benediction she received. But Surya told since you summoned me, you should receive the child from me. Kunti didn’t want but Surya was stubborn. This led to the birth of Karna, although he could understand Dharma but was always stubborn not to follow.
- Dhritarastra: Amba was expecting Bhisma but when Vyasadev showed up, she was shocked and couldn’t take that. She closed her eyes. This led to the birth of Dhritarastra who was physically blind but had a lot of unrealistic expectations and most of them couldn’t get filled.
- Pandu: Ambika was also expecting Bhisma but seeing Vyasadev she became pale and acted sickly, Pandu born was also getting frequent sickness and was not very healthy.
- Vidura: Born from a Maidservant who respectably received Vyasadev. Vidura born was a righteous person, always following the path of Dharma.
- Bhisma: Ganga was throwing all her children in her water. Maharaj Shantanu was very confused to stop her or not since Ganga made this condition before marriage that he should not stop her from whatever she does otherwise she will leave. Bhisma born was always in a dilemma about whether to stay with father or mother, follow Dharma or Kuru king, fighting for Kaurava but bless Pandavas for victory.
- Duryodhana: Gandhari beat her own womb with a mace, on hearing the birth of the son of Kunti before her, out of envy. The resulting children were envious, demonic, and selfish.
These characters tell us how important is to maintain the proper consciousness before conception. If the conception is done at the wrong time like animals, will result in animals having the body of humans.
