In this article, we talk about the Coordinape platform, why MahaDAO has decided to integrate with them, what’s in it for the MahaDAO community and how it will help the MahaDAO scale from roughly 10–20 DAO members to over 1000+ DAO members in the near future.

Coordinape is a platform initially developed by the Yearn Finance team for organizing payouts and bringing transparency to how the DAOs operated.

For the integration with MahaDAO, the MahaDAO team will provide a MAHA token grant of 5000$ to the Coordinape team every month and will actively support the project in whatever way possible.

Scaling up DAO operations. How will it work?

We’d like to think of DAOs as ant colonies, where members in the ant colony work together to grow the colony as a whole without any instructions or general command whatsoever from the queen ant.

With Coordinape, coordinating and incentivizing various members within the MahaDAO community becomes as simple as a few button clicks (even at scale).

Every member within the platform gets a budget of MAHA tokens every month using which he/she can reward other community members in the platform for their contributions. Community members can also leave reasons as to why he/she has decided to reward a community member a certain amount giving an extra level of transparency.

At the end of a month, a 1-week “epoch” starts where all community members enrolled in the platform come together to reward the contributors that they’ve recognized (with reason) have added the most value in the DAO.

After the week is over, the MAHA team will aggregate all the balances and send a consolidated payout to all community members as per allocations made in the epoch. The MahaDAO core team will not interfere in the allocations made by community members and the rewards that have been given out, keeping the DAO as transparent and decentralized as possible.

Using the Community Graph to Understand Payouts and Eliminating Cartels

To avoid situations where members attempt to create cartels and try to reward each other with no active contribution to the DAO, the coordinape tool offers a graph view to visualize the entire contribution network.

A simple contribution graph; showing rewards done by various users. Bringing in transparency and eliminating cartels.

The graph is a visual representation of how rewards flow from one member to another. Because of its nature, it can easily help identify cartels by observing circles of users who keep rewarding each other.

This brings a deep level of transparency that otherwise would be impossible.

Using funds from the MAHA Ecosystem to Pay Contributors

Every month, the MahaDAO Ecosystem gets 50,000 MAHA tokens to spend on various ecosystem activities. For the first month, the budget allocated to the Coordinape platform will be 5,000 MAHA tokens per month. Post the first month, the budget will scale slowly up to a maximum of 15,000 MAHA tokens per month based on the growth of the DAO.

On month 1, every user onboarded onto the Coordinape platform will start off with a budget of 500 MAHA tokens to reward other community members.

Conclusion

A tool like Coordinape helps MahaDAO scale its operations and become a truly decentralized DAO. We hope that this will allow us to massively scale the DAO as we continue to build ARTH and make MahaDAO an unstoppable force of nature.
