Joining the Self-Help Group: A Step Towards Change

Reena’s journey towards change began when she connected with the Durga Ajeevika Women’s Group. Understanding the benefits of saving and mutual support within the group, Reena saw an opportunity to change her circumstances.

She recounts, “A mission officer introduced me to the SHG. Initially, I received a loan of 12,000 rupees through the Revolving Fund. Later, I secured an additional loan of 80,000 rupees from the Community Investment Fund (CIF).”

With these funds, Reena enrolled in training to learn how to make LED bulbs. Her diligence paid off when she received another loan of 100,000 rupees, further improving her financial situation.

“I learned how to make LED bulbs and started supplying them everywhere. Now, I earn approximately 11,000 rupees a month,” says Reena with a smile.

Building a Business: From Worker to Owner

Reena’s determination and hard work turned her into a successful entrepreneur. She mastered making LED bulbs and established a small-scale industry in her village. Her husband, once a labourer, now assists her in their business. The income from this venture significantly improved their quality of life, providing them with financial stability and a sense of accomplishment.

Reena’s success story quickly spread through Majidgarh. She became known not only for her business acumen but also for her inspiring journey from a labourer to a business owner. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and the impact of community support.

Helping Others: Becoming a Community Resource Person

As her business flourished, Reena realized the importance of giving back to her community. She began working as a Community Resource Person (CRP), a role that allowed her to train and guide other women in her village. She used her experience and success to motivate others, showing them the path to financial independence.

Reena’s efforts paid off, as she helped many women join SHGs and start their businesses. She provided them with the necessary training and support, helping them break free from the cycle of poverty. Her work as a CRP not only uplifted her community but also established her as a role model.

The Ripple Effect of Change

Reena’s journey from a labourer to a successful entrepreneur has created a ripple effect in Majidgarh. Her story has inspired countless women to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams. The once quiet village is now a hub of entrepreneurial activity, thanks to Reena’s efforts and the support of the Ajeevika Mission.

The transformation in Reena’s life and her village is a shining example of how financial support, training, and community backing can change lives. Reena’s ability to turn her modest beginnings into a thriving business highlights the potential within every individual when given the right opportunities.
