In this video tutorial, Blake from MailTag.io shows you 3 quick & easy steps to keep your Gmail safe.

Tip #1). Gmail’s 2-Step Authentication.

If you’re not already using 2-step, you’re making a mistake.

When enabled, logging into your Gmail account will require that a code be sent to your phone and typed into your login page before access is permitted.

If you’re worried about 2-step being too much of a hassle, you can also check a box that allows Google to remember your computer for 30 days.

Setup Google’s 2-Step authentication here.

Tip #2). Regularly check the login activity for your account.

You can view a chronological list of your email’s login history by clicking the “details” hyperlink, located at the bottom right corner of your Gmail account.

If you notice your account was accessed from an unrecognized area, it’s probably a good idea to change your password.

Tip #3). Physically write down your back-up codes.

When all else fails, these codes will likely be one of your last available options for regaining access to your Gmail account.

If you don’t know your Gmail account’s back-up codes, take two minutes to write them down a piece of paper. Don’t procrastinate. Do it now.
