In today’s article, I’ll be showing you a sales email that I received from a freelance blog writer named Michael.

Why am I showing you his sales outreach?

Because within 24 hours of receiving his email, I hired him!

Let’s analyze his sales outreach so we can study the science behind Michael’s strategy for sealing the deal.

Michael’s outreach:

If we translate Michael’s email outreach into an equation, it will look like this:

Personalization + Genuine Compliment + A Clear Request + UVP (Unique Value Proposition) = Success

Now, let’s break down Michael’s message and showcase how to write the perfect sales outreach:

#1). Customize Your Sales Outreach, And Include Genuine Compliments

As you can see, Michael’s message is specifically customized for our company.

In-fact, the first paragraph of his outreach is a compliment regarding how he gains value from using our service.

If somebody clicks on one of the links below, I’ll know my pitch wasn’t boring enough for somebody to stop reading. That’s useful for making changes.

In other other words, Michael is using our technology’s value proposition as part of his introductory compliment.

#2). Be Clear About Your Request

The worst sales outreaches are those that fail to make their requests clear.

For Michael, his request was for us to write him back and let him know if we’d be interested in engaging his writing services.

Regardless of what you are requesting from your prospect, don’t fail to ask.

As the expression goes; failing to ask is asking to fail.

#3). Offer a UVP (Unique Value Proposition)

What made Michael’s outreach “stand out” was his ability to promote MailTag on other relevant blogs that he writes for.

As a start-up company looking to gain exposure, this was very important to us.

So, ask yourself:

What makes your proposal better than your competitors’ proposals?

Having a unique value proposition is the final piece of the puzzle for those looking how to write a sales email outreach that actually closes the deal.

The Bottom Line:

#1). Never send a generic sales email — and always personalize if you’re sending a cold email outreach.

#2). Be clear about what you want, and don’t be afraid to ask.

#3). Offer a UVP! You need something that separates you from other cold emailers.
