Buying gifts on Valentine’s Day isn’t just reserved for couples in love. Last year was an all-time record for Valentine’s spending. Shoppers bought more cards, chocolates, jewelry and clothing than ever before for significant others as well as family members, children, children’s classmates and teachers, friends, colleagues and pets.

Here’s the breakdown for spending on Valentine’s Day in 2015:

On Twitter:

  • Miami, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York City tweeted most about their thoughts and plans for Valentine’s Day.
  • 71% of Valentine’s Day related tweets are from women.
  • Men mostly tweets about cards and women mostly tweet about chocolate.
